Dr Adey Burchard is a General Practitioner with a special interest in the management of obesity. She graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2003, then worked throughout South Australia, Tasmania and New South Wales. She then returned home to Adelaide to complete her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
She loves working as a GP and enjoys getting to know her patients and their families, sharing her knowledge and skills to help them to improve their health. With Australian Metabolic and Obesity Surgery she can work specifically in an area that she is passionate about - weight management. She understands that her patients come to her with complex reasons for their weight problems, and that the solutions can be complex too.She enjoys taking a holistic view of her patients and working with them over the long term.
Dr Burchard has a strong interest in population and preventative health. She has a Masters of Public Health Medicine through the University of New South Wales, and has spent time working on projects with SA Health aimed at addressing health issues - including obesity - at a population level.
Dr Burchard has been involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors and has also undertaken research projects with the University of Adelaide. She is focused on providing care for her patients that is evidence based.
