Dr Laurie Chitti graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Medicine in 1995. He trained in gastroenterology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre, and was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2002.
He has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre and Western Hospital since 2003. He has a special interest in coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer screening, and performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy.
Dr Chitti is involved in research and delivery of patient care through the inflammatory bowel disease service at Flinders Medical Centre. His interest in coeliac disease has led to research in this area in collaboration with the CSIRO.
A Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, Dr Chitti also has an interest in medical education. He was Director of Physician Training at Flinders Medical Centre from 2003 to 2013, and remains involved in the teaching of medical students and supervision of advanced trainees in gastroenterology.
