What does a sleep physician do?
Sleep physicians can deal with all sleep disorders. Without sufficient or proper sleep, you are more likely to have problems with thinking, concentration, memory, mood and reaction times.
What conditions do sleep physician treat?
Common sleep disorders include:
- snoring,
- sleep apnoea,
- REM behaviour disorder,
- restless legs syndrome,
- circadian rhythm disorders,
- narcolepsy,
- idiopathic hypersomnia,
- insomnia,
- parasomnias,
- complex sleep disorders, and
- non-respiratory sleep disorders.
Our sleep and respiratory physicians are all recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australasian Sleep Association.
How are sleep disorders diagnosed?
Depending on your specialist, if you require sleep studies, they will be conducted at either Burnside Hospital or in your own home (through Sleep Med Adelaide). Your specialist can organise, report and interpret the study, provide the right diagnosis and offer the right treatment.
