Dr Zafar Usmani is a Senior Respiratory and Sleep Physician who is affiliated with various public and private hospitals. He provides specialist services for a variety of respiratory and sleep disorders, including, but not limited to, obstructive sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pleural diseases, complex sleep disorders, lung nodules and lung mass.
He completed his advanced respiratory training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and his advanced sleep training at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health (AISH).
He has received various awards, grants and scholarships during his training including, Foundation Daw Park Grant, David Horowitz Memorial Research Award and Cochrane Airways Group Scholarship. His main research interests are "new modalities of treatment for obstructive sleep apneoa” and “management of anxiety in COPD.”
Dr Usmani is actively involved in teaching activities in addition to his clinical work, and is affiliated with the University of Adelaide as a Clinical Senior Lecturer. He is also an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian Medical Council. He has been published in a number of peer reviewed publications
