Dr Sam Edwards graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He undertook physician training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, advanced training in gastroenterology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, then a fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital (London), with a focus on the clinical management of inflammatory bowel disease. He qualified as a gastroenterologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2006, since which he has been working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre and in private practice.
His special interests include management of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), endoscopy, colonoscopy and small bowel capsule endoscopy (PillCam). He is involved with medical student and post-graduate teaching, as well as being on the drug advisory committee at Flinders Medical Centre.
